Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Guilin – Yangshuo
- Morning: At 9:00 am, your guide will meet you at your hotel in Guilin or Yangshuo and transfer to Yangshuo Xianggong Hill. Once an obscure karst hill, Xianggong Hill gained fame after a local photographer’s images of the hill won an international contest. Today, it is a beloved destination for photographers. Continue to the Yulong River for a bamboo rafting experience. Known as “the Little Li River,” the Yulong River is famous for its dramatic karst landscape, silky water, and ancient bridges.
- Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at West Street, Yangshuo’s oldest street with a history of over 1,400 years. This bustling area is a cultural melting pot, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
- Evening: At 6:40 pm, head to the Impression Sanjie Liu Light Show, a spectacular performance staged on the Li River with natural karst peaks as the backdrop.
Day 2: Guilin – Longji Rice Terraces
- Morning: At 9:00 am, meet your guide at the hotel lobby and check out. First stop is the Reed Flute Cave, a natural limestone cave known as “the Palace of Natural Arts.” This landmark attraction features multicolored lighting and has been a popular site for over 1,200 years.
- Afternoon: Drive 2 hours to Longji Rice Terraces. Named for its resemblance to a dragon’s backbone, these terraces are considered one of the world’s most beautiful. Spanning an area of 66 square kilometers, they were constructed over centuries and offer breathtaking views. Visit the Ping’an Zhuang Village Terraced Fields or Jinkeng Terraced Fields to learn about local customs.
- Evening: Check into your accommodation in Ping’an Village or Dazhai Village and stay overnight.
Day 3: Longji – Chengyang Dong Village – Zhaoxing Dong Village
- Morning: At 9:00 am, depart for Chengyang Dong Village (2-hour drive). Upon arrival, walk across the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, a wooden and stone structure built in 1916. The bridge features five tower-like kiosks with intricate eaves.
- Afternoon: Explore Chengyang Dong Village, known for its traditional wooden houses, rice fields, and bamboo water wheels. Enjoy local performances and traditional Dong customs.
- Evening: Drive 1.5 hours to Zhaoxing Dong Village, one of the largest Dong villages in Guizhou. This picturesque village features wooden stilt houses and is surrounded by lush mountains. Stay overnight in Zhaoxing.
Day 4: Zhaoxing – Basha Miao Village – Kaili
- Morning: At 8:30 am, depart for Basha Miao Village (1-hour drive). This ancient village remains untouched by modernization, with residents living in traditional wooden houses and practicing centuries-old customs.
- Afternoon: Continue to Yintan Dong Village, known for its well-preserved Dong architecture and unique cultural practices. The village’s drum tower stands 21 feet high, and its traditional buildings offer a glimpse into Dong culture.
- Evening: Drive to Kaili and stay overnight.
Day 5: Kaili – Guiyang
- Morning: Visit nearby Langde Miao Village (1-hour drive). Surrounded by green mountains, this village is known for its traditional Miao stilt houses and welcoming customs, including the “block-the-way” wine ritual. Enjoy local folk songs and explore the village’s cobblestone paths.
